Resolving Adaptors Showing as 'Unknown Device'
While using some USB adaptors, LiveViewer and your hub may show that a device is detected as an ‘Unknown Device’, even if nothing is plugged into the adaptor.
With USB adaptors introducing newer and newer features, they get more and more complicated. In order for it to be able to do all of this functionality, it needs power. The simpler ones will draw a very tiny amount, but it can start to creep up, depending on how ‘advanced’ the adaptor is. This tiny amount of power draw can sometimes make our hub recognise it as an attached device.
To resolve this, you can increase the ‘Attach Threshold’ from within the hub settings in LiveViewer or Cambrionix Connect. Generally, we have found that increasing it to ~20mA tends to work well, but depending on the adaptor, you may need to increase it to a higher amount until the adaptor is no longer showing as an ‘Unknown Device’.
To access the hub settings:
-
Click on ‘Hubs’ on the menu bar
-
Click on your Hub
-
Click on the Settings cog (highlighted in the image below)
-
Click the down arrow next to the ‘Attach Threshold’ setting to see and then amend the value:

As mentioned above, this part might be a bit of a trial and error until it has the intended effect. First, try setting this to 20mA and see if it resolves. If not, then incrementally increase it until it does.
