Connecting Multiple MacBooks to a Single Host
If you have multiple MacBooks that you wish to manage through your Cambrionix hub, you will need to make use of ‘Target Disk Mode’. Target Disk Mode allows one, or more, MacBooks to appear as an external hard disk to the MacBook it is connected to.
Note:
- If any of the MacBooks are on macOS 11 or later, you must connect them via a Thunderbolt cable.
- If all MacBooks are on older versions of macOS, you are able to connect them via:
- USB 3.0
- USB-C
- Thunderbolt
To put MacBooks into ‘Target Disk Mode’:
- If the computer is off, start it up while pressing and holding the
Tkey. - If the computer is on, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click General in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down). Click Startup Disk on the right, then click Restart in Target Disk Mode.
- When the computer has started up, a disk icon appears on the desktop of the other computer.
