Unable to Connect More Devices — USB Endpoint Limits

If you’re finding that you’re unable to connect anymore devices to your hub, or already-connected-devices are starting to display ‘odd’ behaviour when connecting more devices, you may have reached the Endpoint limit of your USB controller. This may stop you from being able to attach anymore devices to your host system.

It is very possible that you have run out of Endpoint Memory, instead of the Endpoint limit. If this is the case, you could switch to using USB 2 on some of the devices. USB 2 uses half the Endpoint memory as that of USB 3, so more devices can be connected.

Just note that using USB 2 will limit your charging & data transfer speeds

You can change the connection by disabling USB 3 in the BIOS on startup, which will force all USB connections to use USB 2. A much simpler way is to use USB 2 cables instead, limiting those connections to USB2.

How to check device Endpoints/Endpoint Memory?​

If you wish to check the number of Endpoints or the amount of Endpoint memory being used by a device, you can really easily do so through one of our hubs, once the device has been trusted to the host system.

  1. First, open up either LiveViewer or Cambrionix Connect
  2. Click on ‘Hubs’ on the menu bar
  3. Click on the hub with the device you want to check
  4. Click on the device you want to check
  5. On the device information, you should see a section for ‘Endpoints’ and all the relevant information for this device:
