Additional Information

Update stages

When firmware updates, it runs through these stages:

Update stageDescription
ConnectingConnecting to the hub
InitialisingThe update is initialising
ErasingErasing current firmware
UpdatingNew firmware is being installed
VerifyingChecking that firmware installed correctly
CompleteThe update has completed
SkippedFirmware update has been skipped on this hub

Bootloader

The bootloader is separate firmware that allows the hub to load and update firmware. It is loaded during manufacturing and cannot be changed.

You can view bootloader version through Cambrionix Connect or by sending the id command through the CLI.

Errors

If an update fails, the updater reports the reason in the terminal.

If a hub is left in bootloader mode, run another firmware update to recover it.

Example error:

COM7: PP15S (000000) Firmware update failed. Device may now be unusable,
and may need re-flashing. caused by Device is not
responding

Daisy-chained hubs

Updating daisy-chained hubs simultaneously may fail (or appear to fail) because the tool can lose connection to downstream hubs while a parent hub reboots.

If you get Device is not responding, rerun the tool (without --force) to verify final state.
